Pros & Cons
Pros & Cons
- Ceramic bearings with an extremely low friction of 0.033 Watts ensure maximum energy savings.
- The sophisticated aerodynamic design reduces drag and saves considerable time.
- Independent tests by Friction Facts confirm that the bearings are among the fastest on the market.
- The oversized 14- and 19-tooth pulleys optimise the chain line for smoother and more efficient power transfer.
- A disadvantage of ceramic bearings is that replacement in case of wear is more costly than with standard bearings.

Material and construction
This oversized derailleur cage is built using a carefully engineered mix of materials. While the jockey wheels are high-precision milled from aluminium, the casing is made of carbon. This construction reduces weight without compromising integrity. The use of a closed carbon cage gives you an aerodynamic advantage.

Technology and performance
At the heart of the AERO Cage are premium ceramic bearings which are specially tuned for Shimano 12-speed derailleurs. These high-performance bearings allow for exceptionally low friction, resulting in smoother chain travel and noticeable energy savings. The performance has been independently confirmed by Friction Facts laboratory, which measured a friction of only 0.033 Watts, one of the lowest values in the market. In addition to mechanical efficiency, the aerodynamic design delivers a significant reduction in drag, which may result in a time gain of up to 40 seconds over a distance of 40 km compared to a standard Shimano derailleur cage.

Compatibility and installation
The CyclingCeramic AERO Cage is specifically designed for flawless integration with Shimano's 12-speed electronic groupsets. The system is compatible with the Shimano Dura-Ace Di2 (9200/9250) and Shimano Ultegra Di2 (8100/8150) rear derailleurs. The oversized pulleys, with a 14-tooth top wheel and a 19-tooth bottom wheel, are designed to optimise the chain line for these specific drivetrains.
